Dayle Haddon’s legacy
Haddon was a teen when she started modeling, and she won the 1966 Miss Montreal pageant at 18. In the years that followed, she became a star of the modeling scene. It was a career she’d continue long after most professional models retired.
The 1970s were a vibrant time for her, appearing on the cover of the 1973 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue and beginning an acting career that started with Disney’s “The World’s Greatest Athlete.” For the next two decades, she appeared in an array of films and television shows, most often European movies. In the U.S., she played alongside Nick Nolte in 1979’s “North Dallas Forty” and had single-episode appearances in two ‘80s television series, “Max Headroom” and “The Hitchhiker.”
As a model, Haddon did work for Revlon, Estée Lauder, and other recognized brands. In her late 30s, she became a spokesperson for L’Oréal anti-aging cosmetics, leading to a regular gig as a wellness contributor on CBS’ “The Early Show.”
Haddon released a book in 1999, “Ageless Beauty: A Woman’s Guide to Lifelong Beauty and Well-Being.” She was also active in philanthropy, working with organizations such as UNICEF, Free the Children, and WomenOne, a non-profit she founded in 2008.
