Elliott DeGeneres, proud father of Ellen DeGeneres

by Legacy Staff

Elliott DeGeneres, father of talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, has died, according to his daughter. He was 92.

Comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres shared news with her audience on Thursday, Jan. 11, that her father, Elliott DeGeneres, had died earlier that week at the age of 92.

“He had a good, long life, and he lived his life exactly how he wanted. He was Christian Science his entire life. He never had medicine his whole life. He never went to a doctor. I never had a vaccination. We never had medicine growing up and he lived to be 92,” she told her audience.

“He was very proud of me. He loved the show. He was a very kind man, an accepting man. There was not one bone of judgement in his body. He was very funny. I think my brother Vance and I got our sense of humor from him,” she remembered.

The day her father died there was a rainbow over her studio, which she posted to Twitter with the message, “When I was a kid, my dad took us on one vacation to Warner Bros. Studios. He loved this business. He loved that I was in it. When he died, I saw this rainbow over the stage they named for me.”
