Erik Cowie was a zookeeper at the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park, featured in the hit Netflix docuseries “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness.”
Cowie was often featured in “Tiger King,” the story of zookeeper and convicted felon Joe “Joe Exotic” Maldonado-Passage. Cowie had worked at the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park since answering a Craigslist ad. In the trial in which Maldonado-Passage was convicted of animal abuse and attempted murder for hire, Cowie testified against his employer. He alleged that older tigers were killed at the zoo to make room for new animals.
