Unsung Motown songwriter

Ivy Jo Hunter was an accomplished keyboard and trumpet player from Detroit who was signed at a young age to Motown Records. Most of his work at Motown was behind the scenes, playing in the Motown house band and writing and producing. Classic songs that he wrote or co-wrote include Martha and the Vandellas “Dancing in the Street,” The Isley Brothers “My Love Is Your Love (Forever),” and “Ask the Lonely” for the Four Tops. Later, he contributed to Funkadelic’s 1970 debut album and released his own records.
