Jean Allison (1929–2024), prolific character actress

Jean Allison was a character actress with a prolific career in the 1950s through ‘80s, appearing in dozens of TV shows. 

Jean Allison’s legacy 

Allison debuted on TV in the 1950s, appearing on such shows as “General Electric Theater,” “Have Gun – Will Travel,” and “The Loretta Young Show.” She became a recognizable TV guest star, working widely in the ‘60s and ‘70s. The many classic TV shows she appeared on included “Rawhide,” “Bonanza,” “Hawaiian Eye,” “Perry Mason,” “77 Sunset Strip,” “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” “Gunsmoke,” “Charlie’s Angels,” “Starsky and Hutch,” “St. Elsewhere,” and “Simon & Simon.” Her final credit was a 1984 appearance on “Highway to Heaven.” 

Though her onscreen career was largely concentrated in television, Allison also had roles in such movies as “Edge of Fury,” “Devil’s Partner,” and “Bad Company.” She also appeared in such TV movies as “Brock’s Last Case” and “The Strange Possession of Mrs. Oliver.”
