Jimmy Lydon was an actor who starred in the classic film “Life With Father,” and gave Elizabeth Taylor her first screen kiss in the movie “Cynthia.”

Longtime Hollywood actor   

Jimmy Lydon started acting on Broadway as a teenager to help his family during the Great Depression. He was signed to RKO in 1940 and starred in the film “Tom Brown’s School Days.” Signed to Paramount in 1941, Lydon starred as a teenager prone to trouble in the “Henry Aldrich” serials. He may be best known for playing William Powell’s oldest son in the 1947 classic “Life With Father,” and he gave Elizabeth Taylor her first screen kiss that same year in “Cynthia.” In 1950 , he starred in one of the first TV network daytime soap operas, “The First Hundred Years.” He had a lengthy acting career, appearing on “Lou Grant,” “Gunsmoke,” and “St. Elsewhere.”

He paid a million dollars just for the rights to the story, which was a lot of money in the 1940s.
