Johnny Wactor’s legacy
Wactor landed his first TV role while he was still studying acting at the College of Charleston. He played an airman in a 2007 episode of “Army Wives,” a show he would return to two other times in different roles. He went on to star in the 2013 single-season drama “Siberia” and made notable appearances on such TV shows as “Criminal Minds,” “NCIS,” “Westworld,” and “The Passenger.”
In 2020, Wactor landed the role for which he was best known, playing Brando Corbin on “General Hospital.” He took on the role just days before production went on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but when filming resumed, he played Brando on 164 episodes through the character’s death in 2022. Wactor also had roles in several movies, including “USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage” and “Supercell.”
Wactor recalls his theater school audition:
“I remember the audition was with another student, and we were told to act out a scene where the two of us were on a Ferris wheel. One of us was going to be freaking out, and the other person was supposed to be calming the other one down. I went all in on my freaking out and was accepted into the program and have not looked back since.” — from a 2020 interview for FBJ Fit
