K.T. Oslin was born Kay Toinette Oslin and began her career as a folk singer in the 1960s before performing on Broadway in the 1970s. She had her first major success as a country singer after the age of 40, when she was discovered in Nashville by Harold Shedd, known for his work with the country group Alabama. Her 1987 album “80’s Ladies” was a hit; she won a Grammy for best country vocal by a female for the title track and became the first female songwriter to win song of the year for “80’s Ladies” at the Country Music Awards. “Hold Me” and “Come Next Monday” were other hits. Oslin turned to acting in the 1990s, appearing on the sitcom “Evening Shade.” Her last album release was 2015’s Simply.”
