Musical career
Before his solo recording debut, Martin was a member of the band Masquerade and toured with MC Hammer. His first album, 1995’s “It’s Long Overdue,” yielded the popular single “Never Find Someone Like You.” It was a modest success on the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B charts, and it was featured on the soundtrack to the hit movie “Bad Boys.” Martin followed it with singles including “Moment in Time” and “Because of You.” In 2004, he began working as a producer for EMI Philippines. He also continued releasing his own music, most recently the 2018 single “Return to Me.” In addition to singing, Martin played bass, keyboards, and percussion.
