Lee Siegfried (1968–2024), Crazy Cabbie of The Howard Stern Show

by Eric San Juan

Lee Siegfried was a radio personality and DJ best known as “The Howard Stern Show” regular Crazy Cabbie.

Lee Siegfried’s legacy

Lee Anthony Mroszak, also known as Lee Siegfried – but perhaps best known as Howard Stern show regular Crazy Cabbie – was a radio DJ who got his start on KQRS and 93.7 The Edge, both in Minnesota. He was fired from KQRS for a prank involving NFL star Brett Favre, falsely suggesting Favre was having an affair, but rose to prominence again when he began appearing on “The Howard Stern Show.”

During his years on Stern’s show under the moniker Crazy Cabbie – a character he first created while on the radio in Minnesota – Siegfried discussed his time in the U.S. Army, got into clashes with other regulars like Angry Black and Stuttering John, both of whom he boxed, and openly talked about his prison term for tax evasion.  He was arrested and sentenced after saying on air that he hadn’t filed a return in years.

As of 2020, it was revealed that Siegfried suffered from Guillain-Barre syndrome. By 2021, he was confined to a wheelchair. He spent his final days in hospice.
