Reading his audiences’ minds
As a mentalist, Maven was known for his skill at guessing what audience members were thinking. He used that skill to create the pioneering interactive video “Max Maven’s Mindgames: The Videotape that Reads Your Mind” in 1984. Maven hosted TV series including “The MAXimum Dimension” for Canadian TV and “Something Strange with Max Maven” for British TV. In the U.S., he made guest appearances on TV shows including “Mork and Mindy,” “General Hospital,” and “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” Well-respected in the magic community, he worked as a consultant with celebrity magicians including David Copperfield, Penn & Teller, and Siegfried & Roy. Maven was known in part for his signature look, including a pronounced widow’s peak and Van Dyke beard.
