Michael Tylo (1948–2021), soap opera star known for “Guiding Light”

Michael Tylo was a soap opera star known for his performances on “Guiding Light” and other shows.

Soap operas and other work

Tylo got his start in soap operas on “Another World” in 1980, playing Lord Peter Benton. His next soap opera role was a defining one: He began appearing on “Guiding Light” in 1981 as Quinton Chamberlain. Quint was paired with Nola Reardon, played by Lisa Brown, in a popular soap opera couple. Tylo remained on “Guiding Light” through 1985, returning to the role for a short period on the mid-1990s. He went on to appear in soap operas including “All My Children,” “General Hospital,” “The Young and the Restless,” and “The Bold and the Beautiful.” Other TV appearances included “Murder, She Wrote,” “Lonesome Dove,” and “Zorro.” Tylo was also a stage actor as well as a professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
