At least 97 people were killed Friday, May 22, 2020, when a Pakistan International Airlines Airbus 320 crashed in a residential area of Karachi, Pakistan while on final approach to the airport. There were 91 passengers and eight crew members on board. Two survivors were rescued from the site of the crash.

The flight departed from Lahore, Pakistan and was on final approach to its scheduled destination of Karachi, Pakistan when it crashed. There were reports of additional injuries, but no fatalities on the ground.
There was one US citizen and 98 Pakistani nationals aboard the flight. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo tweeted a message of support to the victims and their families.
