She appeared in her father’s movies
Hitchcock was the only child of Alfred Hitchcock (1899–1980) and his wife, screenwriter Alma Reville. She was an actor who starred in two Broadway shows as a teenager, including the title role in “Violet.” After studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, she would appear in several of her famous father’s movies. Hitchcock played a classmate of Jane Wyman’s (1917–2007) character in “Stage Fright” and an office worker in “Psycho.” Her most prominent role was in the 1951 classic thriller “Strangers on a Train,” playing Barbara Morton, the sister of Ruth Roman’s character. She appeared on many episodes of the TV series “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” and also appeared on “My Little Margie” and “The Life of Riley.”
Notable quote
“I was very close to my father. He used to take me out every Saturday, shopping and to lunch. On Sundays, he took me to church regularly, until I could drive. Then I’d drive him to church regularly. It’s because of his diligence that my religion is so strong today.” – from an interview in The Hollywood Reporter
