Paul Herman (1946–2022), actor known for “The Sopranos,” “Silver Linings Playbook”

Paul Herman was an actor who had memorable roles in movies and TV shows including “Silver Linings Playbook” and “The Sopranos.”

Acting career

Herman’s movie career began in the early 1980s with small roles in films including “Once Upon a Time in America,” “The Cotton Club,” “The Purple Rose of Cairo,” and “Big.” He played a memorable drug dealer, the “Pittsburgh Connection,” in “Goodfellas.” Herman would go on to frequently play gangsters; in a recurring role on “The Sopranos,” he played heroin dealer and pizza shop owner Peter “Beansie” Gaeta. Another recurring role came on “Entourage,” in which he played Vince’s accountant, Marvin. In recent years, Herman had a number of prominent movie roles. He played the manager of Jeff Bridges’ character in “Crazy Heart” and gambler Randy in “Silver Linings Playbook,” as well as con man Alfonse Simone in “American Hustle” and gangster Whispers DiTullio in “The Irishman.”
