Viral video sensation
In 2010, the bearded Vasquez posted a video of himself seeing a double rainbow on YouTube. The video became a viral sensation because of Vasquez’s excited joyful reaction to seeing the double rainbow. Witnessing the sight near his California home in the Yosemite Mountains, he laughed, cried, and excitedly talked about the double rainbow, even wondering what it meant. His authentic reaction to the beautiful wonder made the video go viral, gathering over 40 million views leading to appearances on TV shows and commercials. He was a firefighter in the 1980s and then held a variety of jobs. In a 2015 CNN interview he said, “You can’t look at a rainbow anymore and not think about me. That’s just the way it is.”
