Peter Renaday’s legacy
Peter Renaday’s life as an actor began traditionally, with stage and screen work leading to his debut in the 1965 television series, “Combat!” He had small roles in a number of films throughout the ‘60s and ‘70s, including “The Love Bug,” but as the ‘80s approached, voice acting began filling up more of his resume. By the end of the decade, he’d appeared in some of the most popular children’s shows and movies, including “Transformers,” “G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero,” “The Rescuers,” and “The Black Cauldron.”
Renaday is perhaps best known for the role he took in 1987 and would play on-and-off for the next decade: Splinter, the rat mentor to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He was the voice of Splinter until 1996.
Renaday was also a Disney mainstay, providing voices for many Disney films and TV shows, as well as voicing many famous attractions at Walt Disney World. They include Captain Nemo in its “20,00 Leagues Under the Sea: Submarine Voyage” ride and Abraham Lincoln in The Hall of President. Renaday also served as narrator for several major features.
His other credits include work on TV shows like “Superman: The Animated Series” and “Ben 10: Ultimate Alien,” plus he provided character voices for a variety of video games, like Duncan in “Dragon Age: Origins” and Adam Fenix in “Gears of War 3.”
