Acting career

Her character seduced Billy Crystal’s Jodie and had his child, leading to a custody battle. She continued to land guest roles on a wide variety of series, including “Cagney & Lacey, “Family Ties,” “Designing Women,” “Beverly Hills, 90210,” and “ER.” In 2002, she took on a recurring role on “Charmed” as a newspaper editor who was Alyssa Milano’s characters boss. Though Balding’s career was largely focused on TV roles, she appeared in movies including the horror films “The Silent Scream” and “The Boogens.”
