Gold bikini and more
Miller joined ILM in 1981, creating Princess Leia’s gold bikini for “Return of the Jedi” in his first assignment. The bikini became one of the best-known costumes in movie history. Miller went on to become ILM’s lead sculptor and work on props for many well-known movies, including the “Star Wars” prequels, “Ghostbusters,” “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade,” “Who Framed Roger Rabbit,” two “Star Trek” movies, and two “Back to the Future” movies. He built Davy Jones’ tentacled beard for two “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies, “Dead Man’s Chest” and “At World’s End.” In later years, Miller became a teacher at ILM, working with young sculptors to build their skills.
