May was best known as a voice actor, with other video game credits including Age of Empires II, Freddi Fish 5, and Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves. He provided the voice of Inspector Lestrade in the long-running Imagination Theatre radio drama “The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.” May was also a stage actor who appeared in plays including “Julius Caesar,” “1776,” and “Death of a Salesman,” and he was an acting teacher.
