Robin Sylvester (1950–2022), RatDog bassist

Robin Sylvester was a longtime bass player with the jam band RatDog which was formed by original Grateful Dead member Bob Weir.

Robin Sylvester was working at Abbey Road Studios in London while the Beatles were recording “The White Album” and was inspired by Paul McCartney to take up the bass guitar. He moved to the United States and was a member of folk-rock band The Movies who were signed to Arista Records. He recorded with the Beach Boys and performed in live bands with Chuck Berry, Mary Wells, and Billy Preston. Sylvester joined RatDog in 2003, replacing original bassist Rob Wasserman. RatDog, fronted by Grateful Dead legend Bob Weir, was a popular jam band. The band has been inactive since 2014.
