Ron Wood Obituary

1958 ~ 2016
Ron was taken from his family suddenly on March 2nd at the young age of 57. Ron was born March 11th 1958 in Bountiful, Utah to Edwin and Helen Bingham Wood. Ron attended Viewmont High School where he met his sweetheart Joni Sanders, with whom he was sealed for eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised their 3 children: Amy (Nick) McKinlay, Cody (Whitney) Wood, Casey (Liesl) Wood, and his fur child Teeke. Grandchildren include Kaden, Kylee, Kenzey, Khloe, and future grandson Ryker. He is survived by his 3 brothers: Dennis, Blair and Jeff. Preceded in death by his Mom, Dad and sister Vicky. Ron enjoyed working with his hands, teaching many skills, and hard work to his three children. His kids describe him as the hardest working man they know, with an amazing amount of talent, and perfection in everything he touched.
Friends and family may visit Sunday, March 6th, 6-8pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary (295 N. Main Bountiful, UT). Funeral services will be held at 11 am Monday, March 7th at the Bountiful Stonecreek Stake Center (990 Chapel Dr. Bountiful, UT), preceded by a short viewing from 9:45-10:45 am. Joni,
It's been a long time, but wanted to let you know I love you. I was heart sick when I saw this in the news. My heart and love weeps for you. I lost my husband 12 years ago to cancer. It will never be the same for you, but I know you and your faith and know you will allow the atonement to heal. I have been so blessed with family and friends to get me through some hard times. I know your family will be strong, as my children and I have been strengthened. I'm living in Springville, but get up to Bountiful often. I hope I can make it soon to see you. Please know I am praying for you. I have fond memories of you and Ron dating and me attending your reception. Those days at Ricks College were extra great because I knew you.
Love always,
Suzanne Hawkes Peterson

I have been touched by your sweet family and your in laws and children's grandparents.Ted and Helen were some of the most precious people we knew.
Joanie, you and Ron give your heart and love for everyone and I am very sad that your beautiful husband is gone. His parents and Vickie were there to receive him with much honor, and because of the goodness, loyalty and service he gave to all, especially his parents; he is a magnificent man.
May you feel the divine comfort of our Savior and Heavenly Father's in knowing that Ron was chosen to serve in a different way. You are people that are most gracious and kind. You are blessed, you will be with him later, I know! I am so very sorry for your loss and the things he will miss first hand, as you all grow. I pray you will always know how much you are loved and admired.
You are gifts to those of us that have felt your spirits! God be with you foralways. What a beautiful man he was, is and will continue to be in a place not far Sincerely, Linda K Nielsen (Btfl 5th Ward)

Joni and family:
Memories of Ron goes way back to the days of boating all summer long. Oh how lucky all of us girls were to have such wonderful "big brothers" to tease us endlessly, scare us, and most of all be our friends even though I know some of the times we could have been pest!!
Ron has a big heart and was a friend to all even after all these years when I would see him at a store or event, he always gave me a hug and would say hello.
Your family has been richly blessed to have him in your life, to learn and grow older with him.
I am so sorry for your loss and you will all continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. May God bless you with comfort and peace during this difficult time.

Ron was a remarkable man and friend to me, Kate and Danny. He magnified his Priesthood as our Home Teacher for many years. He gave my kids blessings at the beginning of school years and home taught us faithfully every month, at times meeting in the church kitchen or our backyard when I couldn't have church leaders in our home. He was kind, hard working, and fun to be around. I had such a fun summer participating in the neighborhood table tennis tournament. I consider him one of my dearest friends along with his loving wife, Joni and their beautiful children. We mourn your loss with you with out deepest love.

My thoughts and prayers are with Ron's family during this time. My son spent many mornings at their home on his way to school, Joni cooking the family breakfast and my son was always included. I recall one Saturday many years ago when Ron drove his family to Bear Lake just for the day so our boys could spend the day together playing on the beach. I always thought that showed a love and kindness for his son and that his family was the most important part of his life.

Each time I dealt with Ron he was very helpful and kind. He always spoke highly of his family and loved ones. You could tell he held them in the highest regard. I believe a man's worth can be summed up by the service he gives and the way he cares for his family. Ron was a great example of each. He will be missed!
