Shad Gaspard (1981–2020), former WWE star

Shad Gaspard was a former WWE star who was a member of the tag team Cryme Tyme.

  • Died: Date unknown. His body was found Wednesday, May 20. 
  • Details of Death: Died at the age of 39 after getting caught in a rip current while swimming with his 10-year-old son on Sunday, May 17. His son was rescued but Gaspard was swept out to sea. Police confirmed his identity when a body was found Wednesday morning.

A Hero

Chief Ken Haskett, with the fire department’s Lifeguard Section, told NBC News that the lifeguard tried to rescue both Gaspard and his son. “He was going to try to rescue both. “But the father, in his last few words, said, ‘Save my son.’ Gaspard pushed his son to the lifeguard, before “he got pushed back down under a wave, and that’s the last he’s been seen.”

Former WWE Star 

Gaspard teamed with JTG to form the popular WWE tag team known as Cryme Tyme. They often appeared on the television wrestling program “Raw.” He later became an actor, appearing in the movie “Get Hard” that starred Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell.
