Suzzanne Douglas was an actress known for roles in TV shows and movies including “The Parent ‘Hood,” “Tap,” and “When Stella Got Her Groove Back.”

Acting career

Douglas had an early starring role alongside Gregory Hines (1946–2003) and Sammy Davis Jr. (1925–1990) in “Tap” (1989), playing the daughter of Davis’ character. She won an NAACP Image Award for her performance. In 1995, Douglas took a starring role as Jerri Peterson on the WB sitcom “The Parent ‘Hood,” remaining with the show for its five-season run. She played Angela in “How Stella Got Her Groove Back” (1998) and Cissy Houston in “Whitney” (2015). Douglas starred in the short-lived 1990 TV series “Against the Law” and also made notable appearances in shows including “The Cosby Show,” “Touched by an Angel,” “The Parkers,” and “The Good Wife.” Her most recent role was in the 2019 Netflix miniseries “When They See Us.”
