Art Whistler was a well-known botanist and an adjunct professor at the University of Hawaii’s Department of Botany. His books on Pacific islands flora include “Rainforest Trees of Samoa” and “Plants of the Canoe People.” The young Samoans he worked with called him “King of the Forest.”
