Dr. Lorna Breen was the medical director of the emergency department at New York Presbyterian Allen Hospital in Manhattan. She died by suicide in Charlottesville, Virginia at the age of 49.
Obituary
Breen was directing the ER during an unprecedented time, as COVID-19 overwhelmed New York City and hospitals saw a massive influx of patients they couldn’t always save. New York Presbyterian Allen is a 200-bed hospital that at one time was treating 170 patients with COVID-19. Breen had tested positive with COVID-19, but she recovered and went back to work before going to stay with her family in Virginia.
