Edith Irvine was the cofounder of the Black Angus Steakhouse chain. She loved traveling and sailing, and in the 1970s, she fought to remain a member of the Seattle Yacht Club after her divorce. Women typically weren’t allowed as members without their husbands, but Irvine challenged the standard and the yacht club changed it for hood.
