Jim Tomlin was a high school science teacher for 40 years in Walla Walla, Washington. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Montana. When Tomlin became the first person in Montana to die of COVID-19, his son Scott posted a heartbreaking message on Facebook detailing how quickly his father’s condition deteriorated. Scott Tomlin also had this to say about his dad: “He never stopped being an educator. He never stopped learning. He always wanted to teach, so if this is his last lesson, hopefully it saves lives. He would be proud to know that he affected people enough to change their behavior for the better.”
