Nelson Henry was a U.S. Army veteran who worked for years to have his “blue discharge” changed to an honorable discharge. His work finally came to fruition less than a year before his death, when the U.S. Army found evidence that the blue discharge had been racially motivated, and they presented him with an updated certificate of honorable discharge. In the years after his service, Nelson drove a taxi and worked for the Pennsylvania state employment office, as well as earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
