Steve Betschart had a passion for teaching. He taught American history, social studies, and psychology for more than 30 years at Dallas High School in Oregon. After retiring in 2003, he became an adjunct teacher at Chemeketa Community College. Betschart attended First Nazarene Church in Salem, Oregon. He was one of half a dozen congregants to be hospitalized, and many more to fall ill, with coronavirus.
