Tom Dempsey was the legendary NFL placekicker whose 63-yard game winning field goal for the New Orleans Saints in 1970 was an NFL record for over 40 years.
Dempsey kicked a 63-yard field goal on the last play of the game leading the Saints over the Detroit Lions 19-17 on November 8, 1970. The kick broke the previous record by 7 yards and was not broken until 2013.
