Ying Kao Lee was a chemist for DuPont who invented Lucite dispersion lacquer, which keeps the paint on cars shiny and bright. A native of China, Lee came to the U.S. in his 20s. At DuPont, he also created coatings for microelectronics and was awarded the firm’s Lavoisier Medal for achievement in technology.
