Audrey Moore Bass, multi-tasker

by Legacy Staff

Audrey Moore Bass was multi-tasking long before it was a catch word.

The first paragraph of the obituary for Audrey Moore Bass in the Valdosta Daily Times in South Georgia immediately captures the reader’s attention:

“Audrey Moore Bass could grow a bare stick into a fruit tree, catch fish where no one else could, take a look at a high-end dress and duplicate it on her home sewing machine, and hunt alligators and bobcats all while being mother to eight children.”

And she could sing. Singing alto or soprano, she gathered her family around the front porch swing for nightly sings while she also played the guitar “to the delight and enjoyment of their neighbors.”

The mother of eight sewed clothes for herself, her family and women in town who admired her work. She had a happy outlook on life that tempered a fiery temper.

There’s no doubt, the obit shows, that Mrs. Bass was multi-tasking before it was a catch word.
