A video tribute to sci-fi filmmakers who blazed a trail for Star Wars.

“Star Wars” ushered in a new age of sci-fi cinema. Featuring jaw-dropping special effects and a rousing story full of action, memorable characters and concepts, it connected with audiences and became a cultural phenomenon in a way few movies ever have. Of course, it wasn’t created in a vacuum. Writer/Director George Lucas would be the first to admit that he never would have imagined “Star Wars” without the work of preceding filmmakers. We remember some of the screen wizards who worked in the sci-fi genre and the films that inspired different elements of “Star Wars.”
