For decades, Rocky Abalsamo kept a daily vigil at the grave of his late wife, Julita. The two had been together 55 years when Julita died in 1993 and Rocky began spending his days beside her grave. He felt better by her side he said. Almost every day from her death until July 2013, when he fell ill and could no longer make the daily journey, he could be found at the cemetery.
Rocky died Jan. 22, 2014, and was buried next to Julita, on her left side (the side he was always on when they walked together in life). As Mitchell Zuckoff of the Boston Globe wrote, “Rocky Abalsamo will never have to leave his wife again.”
