Louis Orr (1958–2022), former NBA player and college basketball coach

Louis Orr was a college basketball star at Syracuse University who played in the NBA and was a college basketball head coach.  

College and NBA career 

Louis Orr was a star forward at Syracuse University who played there from 1976 until 1980. He was one half of the famed “Louie and Bouie show,” teaming up with Roosevelt Bouie to help the Orangemen reach four NCAA tournament appearances. Orr finished his college career with 1,487 points and had his jersey retired by the school. He was drafted in the second round of the 1980 NBA draft by Indiana, playing there for 2 seasons and then with the New York Knicks for 6 seasons. After his NBA career, he got into coaching as an assistant at Xavier University. After four seasons as an assistant at his alma mater, he became head coach at Siena in 2000. He was also the head coach at Seton Hall and Bowling Green. At Seton Hall, he led them to two NCAA tournament appearances. He spent the last 5 seasons as an assistant at Georgetown University, working with ex-Knicks teammate Patrick Ewing.
