With the power of her voice, Olivia Wise inspired everyone from her friends at school to a major pop star.
With the power of her voice, Olivia Wise inspired everyone from her friends at school to a major pop star. The 16-year-old did so with her cover of Katy Perry’s hit single “Roar,” recorded in the last days of her struggle against a brain tumor.
Singing from her wheelchair, Wise turned Perry’s anthem into a quieter ballad that’s likely to bring tears to the eye. The video attracted widespread attention and went viral, bringing much-needed attention to the Liv Wise Fund, raising money for brain tumor research. As we write, the fund is nearing its goal of $150,000 – and we have a feeling it’ll soon surpass it.
Katy Perry herself was touched and inspired by Wise’s recording, sending her an encouraging video that helped promote fundraising efforts.
Olivia Wise, I can hear you singing with the angels now. Your spirit & strength has inspired me & so many others… May you rest in peace.
