Juanita Warman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 7, 2009.
Warman, 55, of Havre De Grace, Md., was a military physician assistant with two daughters and six grandchildren.

She came from a military family, said her half-sister, Kristina Rightweiser. Their father, who died in 2007, was a "career military man," Rightweiser served in the Air Force, and Rightweiser's brother is in the Coast Guard. The two women didn't grow up together, but reconnected after their father's death, Rightweiser said.

Warman "loved the Army and loved her family very much," Rightweiser said in a message sent through Facebook.

Warman volunteered with Beyond the Yellow Ribbon, a reintegration program for Maryland National Guard soldiers returning from deployment overseas, according to Guard officials. She provided mental health counseling and helped develop a program about the myths and realities of post-traumatic stress disorder.

"She was an all-around nice person as well as a very competent professional," said Col. Sean Lee, a Maryland National Guard chaplain who worked with Warman. "We're all going to miss her quite a lot."

Lt. Col. Charles Kohler, a spokesman for the Maryland Guard, said Warman was at Fort Hood preparing for deployment to Iraq.

Warman had worked at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Perry Point Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Maryland.

I pray that he may grant you through the abundance of his glory to be made mighty in the man you are inside, with power through his spirit… (Ephesians 3:16) In this time of a loss of someone special in your lives be comforted to know God cares and will help you to endure.

Lt Col Juanita Warman paid the ultimate sacrifice for our great country. many heroes dont get the recognition for all of their contributions to the united states. to her family i pay respect to because there isnt any words in the english language that can sum up all of the pain and grief that you have suffered through. i know its difficult losing a loved one but pain can be transferred into something meaningful and positive. stay strong... even though i didnt know her her sacrifice will forever be embedded in my heart.

The things that I remember the most are Juanita's ability to keep a sense of humor even when things were getting hectic, her devotion to do the right thing, the way she talked about her family, and her excitment about being deployed to take care of Soldiers. We miss you, Juanita. Thanks for setting a great example for us. sjf

Dear Family of LTC Juanita Warman, I am a member of the 807th at Ft. Douglas, Utah. Our Command Sergeant Major (CSM Gallucci) was most impressed by your daughter. He wanted me to be sure and include her obituary and memories in our upcoming newsletter. After reading a bit about your daughter/sister/mother, I am deeply moved. I, myself, am a Soldier serving now for nearly 34 years. I have been assigned to medical units and am now with the 807th MDSC where the headquarters was once in Seagoville, Texas. Now, the headquarters is in Salt Lake City, Utah. I will make sure and print out her obituary and any comments you might have that you would like to add, I will also put in our newsletter. When it is complete, I will send you a copy by email if you give me your email. I am at: [email protected]. I am the Public Affairs Officer for the Command. Please know that I do understand your loss. But, that I cannot comprehend the pain you must be in right now. This tragedy is completely indescribable! I am, however, honored to serve with such a woman as Juanita. She seems to be a Soldier's Soldier and a leader in a man's Army (which is no small feat). May God be with you in this terrible time. May you -- somehow and someway -- find the peace that you all deserve. My thoughts and prayers are with you and know that the Soldiers at Ft. Douglas and throughout the Command (nearly 12,000) will read about your wonderful daughter/mother/sister/friend. Bless you! May God be with you. Sincerely, Adele Connell

To the family of a wonderful person, soldier, and mentor,

I just learned of this tragedy. My deepest condolences. I was fortunate to have served with her at Landstuhl, and benefitted from her mentorship, guidance and friendship. She was a true professional, compassionate and caring. I thank you all for the sacrifices you made for the year she served in Germany; if not for that, I and many others would not have gotten to know her - and our`lives would not be what they are today. I am a better therapist, and a better person, because she chose to make a difference, and she did -- in my life, and the lives of hundreds of soldiers she cared for. She will be missed by many, never forgotten.

To the family of Juainta. My condolences for your loss. I met Juanita while stationed in Germany. I worked for Mercedes Benz. I remember the day she came in and placed her order and was so excited about the decision she had made to buy her dream car. She made such an impression on me and was always so pleasant to talk to. I am a military spouse and was also a volunteer at Landstuhl Medical Center. She wore the uniform well and you are right to be very PROUD! May GOD bless you all and You now have your very own guardian ANGEL.

I met and worked with Juanita very briefly but she had a strong impact. What I noticed most was her ability to connect with vets who seemed like they had lost everything. She was able to reach out with her skills and natural empathic ability. Hearing her report about her connections with these soldiers made me realize how "young" I was in our chosen field.

Her death is a tragedy but her triumphs in life are a reminder of how one person truly can make a difference in so many lives in such a very short time. She was truly a blessing to those she came upon and is undoubtedly continuing to do great work.

She was incredibly intelligent, warm, and genuine. Many things, but certainly not gone.

To the Family and Friends and Fellow Soldiers,
I had the pleasure of serving with LTC Warman with the 48th CSH at Ft. Meade, MD. She was involved and knowledgeable and dedicated to getting our mental health services and education implemented for the unit. She ALWAYS greeted us with a smile and ALWAYS had a moment to just "be" in our presence and talk and listen. It is so unfortunate and wrong that she will not be able to smile and "be" in our presence anymore. My heartfelt condolences to all who knew her. Hopefully we all learned something positive from her and can continue that in our own lives as a testament to her. May God bless everyone in this time of sorrow.

November 14, 2009

To The Family Of LT. COL. JUANITA WARMAN:

The members and Staff at Behold The Lamb Ministries would like to take this moment to send our prayers to you and ask that The Great God of this Universe will carry you through this storm. We were saddened to learn of the incidents that occurred at Fort Hood.

We want you to know that "since Jesus came to dwell with us, we know that God is acquainted with our trials, and sympathizes with our griefs. Every son and daughter of Adam may understand that our Creator is the friend of sinners. For in every doctrine of grace, every promise of joy, every deed of love, every divine attraction presented in the Saviour's life on earth, we see "God with us." "[DOA, by EGW] We know that sorrow and pain and are all in the "present tense". We pray that the person responsible will ask for forgiveness we pray that we as humans will forgive the person responsible. "The work of redemption will be complete. In the place where sin abounded, God's grace much more abounds. The earth itself, the very field that Satan claims as his, is to be not only ransomed but exalted. Our little world, under the curse of sin the one dark blot in His glorious creation, will be honored above all other worlds in the universe of God. Here, where the Son of God tabernacled in humanity; where the King of glory lived and suffered and died,--here, when He shall make all things new, the tabernacle of God shall be with men, "and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God." And through endless ages as the redeemed walk in the light of the Lord, they will praise Him for His unspeakable Gift,---"[DOA,by EGW]

As we approach the holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas we know that your pain may be greater due to your Loved One's absence. We will be praying with and crying in our hearts. We welcome any prayer request that you may have not only today but in the coming weeks, months and years. We will listen, we will cry with you and we will present all petition before the throne of Christ.

WE LOVE YOU IN CHRIST.

I was shocked when my mother called me @ 1am to give the news of my cousin Wandy. The sadness in my heart, the tears in my eyes, and the feeling of loss is nothing compared to what here Husband, Mother, Daughters, Brother, Sisters and Grandchildren are feeling.
But my memories of growing up with her are strong. My admiration of her accomplishments are overwhelming and the I can only hope and pray her memory will strengthen all of us and help us through this difficult time.
I salute you, Juanita.

To the family of Juanita...she was my co-worker at Madigan. I will remember many things about her...but what comforts me the most is the certainty that she lived each day to its fullest. I would like to thank everyone who's shared their thoughts and memories of my mother Lt Col Juanita Warman. It's very comforting to know others also had the privilege of seeing what a great human being she was. She was so wise, strong, and brave. She was so even tempered and calming when you needed the great advice she gave. At the same time had a great sense of humor and love of life. She was still very down to earth. She never looked down on anyone else despite what their problems might be. She was very understanding and empathic. She loved her work and helping people. From what the Army has told us Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners who specialize in post traumatic stress with her experience are hard to come by. I feel sorry for all the people she will not be able to help now. I feel so lucky to of had her for a mother. I got so much of her love and attention. She was irreplaceable in more ways than one.
Thank you to all my friends who have reached out to me and my family in our time of need. I prayed to God for her strength, courage, and wisdom. In that moment I felt a great relief that is hard to explain. I still feel her presence around me. I hear her words in my head. She was never afraid or intimidated by anything. I know what she would want me to do. I no longer feel she is gone. I feel so close to her. I know she is still very much with me. Everything I do is for her and my family now. I feel uplifted and supported by all the prayers being said for us. I feel embraced by the Holy Spirit. It's the only way that I'm handling this so well is by their support. I listen, I pray, and I feel it.

Follow The Rainbow To Heaven.

A Soldier had die out on the
battlefield;

Broken hearts are weeping For
Them,

But take comfort of knowing
that God had sent Them a
rainbow from heaven;

The Souls of the Soldiers
have gone to there home
in heaven,

Our Loved One's has follow
God's lovely rainbow in the
sky;

All the way to the end of the
sky.

That leads all the way to the
other end of the Lord's
house in heaven,

So just keep on praying and
trust that God will send us

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. I vaguely remember Wandy but have learned so much about her just by reading all of the wonderful things written about her. Though I hadn't seen her in a long while, I can't belive my cousin "Wandy" is gone. This was a woman who had a hard life growing up and despite everything against her, fought her way through and became what I consider to be a hero and someone to be admired. Her loss is such a shame and should never have happened. My heart hurts so badly for her 2 daughters, who I knew quite well for many years. I knew you as MAJ Warman. I was a fellow Soldier and relatively new officer recently cross-leveled to the 4005th US Army Hospital for our mobilization to Germany. The memories I have of the few personal encounters I had with this woman will always be with me. We were housed together in those tents in El Paso and I found myself sitting with her on a few occasions during our pre-deployment SRP. What an insightful, wise, gentle woman she is. I was intimidated by everything around me and she had a great capacity to make me laugh and help ease those stressful processes. It was all about the unknown and I felt great comfort in her presence. Our respective assignments in Germany did not allow for much contact, but I remember her being well respected and liked by all of those who served with her. Her professionalism and commitment to duty and honor reflected her true soul. Our lives went on and there are so many people that have come and gone, but in all those journeys and encounters that we all take in life LTC Juanita Warman presented herself with a strength of character and a commitment to service that anyone would be drawn to. I can just see her greeting some Head of State effortlessly, but this woman never shied away at the tougher, dirtier tasks thrown her way. Juanita Warman – you are a class act. I wish God’s love and the comfort of peace that needs to be conveyed to find all of your family and loved ones.

I met her while attending a conference in 2007 where she was talking about her work with returning soldiers- especially those w/ brain injury and PTSD. I remember being moved by the wisdom she shared and compassion she had for soldiers. I spoke w/ her about soldiers I had worked w/ in the private sector who have sustained TBI. I was shocked to see her picture on the news tonight. Thank you for all you have given to your country, fellow soldiers, fellow Americans, colleagues, and family. You will be missed by all of those whom you touched.

I met Lt. Col. Juanita Warman at the Perry Pt. VA Medical Center where I am being treated for PTSD. For the brief time that I had known her, she was a very caring and compassionate person. I cannot find the words to express my sympathy to her family.

My thoughts are with all of Juanitas family. Like many others, I know of Juanita as a kind and compassionate person. We worked together at UPMC in Pittsburgh together. She was always a kind hearted nurse and Nurse practioner and saw the good in all.

I was shocked like many to hear of her passing especially since I realized she was Juanita Papst from my prior work place. She was a special person who certainly is gone too soon. My prayers are with you all.

As a psychologist in the trauma and outpatient clinics, I had the pleasure of working with Juanita over the last few years at the VA Medical Center at Perry Point MD.

As a member of the trauma treatment and returning veterans outreach team Juanita was outstanding in her commitment to healing soldiers and veterans, supportive of the staff who worked alongside her, and a great person to know - both fun and dignified at the same time.

She was an easy person to like and respect but not always easy to find because she worked so hard. She worked for as long as there was work to do to treat our patients. She was always looking for more she could do, to make a difference, never less.

She volunteered every time there was a chance to serve soldiers. She went where and when there was a need, wherever it was. She never spoke of the sacrifices in time with family, cost, distance, or disruption of a 'normal life'.

I got the impression, for her, giving 200% WAS a normal life. The way she did her job set an example that stepped up the level of all the teams she was on.

My feelings at her loss overtake my words and I am speechless. We have lost one of our best at the Perry Point VA. We will neve forget her and we will miss her.

I worked with Juanita at Woodville State Hospital in Pa.in the late 80's. She was smart, fun, and really good at being a psychiatric nurse. I was shocked to see what happened and then stunned when I realized this was Juanita Pabst from Woodville. She was special.

I met and worked with Jaunita this past August at Ft Lewis while completing the final annual training of my career as a reservist. She got word that she was being deployed while I was there and was so excited to be going. I knew you for such a short time, but you will stay in my memory forever. God be with you, my friend, and with your family!
