I had the honor, and I do mean honor to fly with Marvin in Houston. I am so so very sorry that he is gone. Marvin was truly a class act. He was a gentlemen first and foremost and a great leader and mentor to the First Officers he flew with.

I only had the pleasure of passing by Marvin sometime in my last year as a flight attendant here at Colgan Air but I am certain I can say that he had his priorities in a row. God, Family then Flying. What a wonderful man. Family, church, flying which he loved more than anything. We will all miss him greatly. He is one of the few really GOOD ONES!!

Marvin was one of my absolute favorite pilots at Colgan. I was always thrilled to see his name on a release. Having also grown up in Iowa we would often talk about what we missed and things that were different there. I remember seeing him before taking a trip to visit the family back home and asking him what he would most want from Iowa...homemade canned corn. My mom usually did frozen sweet corn but my grandma happened to have an extra jar. Marvin wasn't expecting me to remember or bring him anything and I was excited to be able to share it with him the next time he was in town. When he found out our station was being closed he told me he thought of me first and that we would definitely be missed. The last time I saw him was only a couple weeks before we closed and he wanted to take the time to get a picture taken with me. I really wish now I had a copy of that picture. Marvin was a really great guy and I knew if I needed anything he could help with he'd be there. He really was like an uncle to me and will be greatly missed. I look forward to seeing him again one day in Heaven.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Marvin's family and friends. Though I never knew him, I know he will be missed by those who were close to him. My ex-wife, Madeline, worked with him and told me what a good person Marvin was. She said he was a true family man and a good pilot. I'm sure he has earned his wings in more ways than just becoming a pilot. May God bless and keep him.

I was overwhelmed when I heard the news of Marvin's (Mark) passing. I first met Mark when I went to work for Piedmont Airlines he, along with Steve Dreyer were my first trainers. I will remember fondly his smile and his infectious since of humor; I could always count on him to share a corny joke or story. Mark had a passion for life, and a love for his family and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife Sandy and his children.

Our deepest sympathy to the Renslow family. We worked with both Mark and Sandy in MCORO. Mark and I both found our spouses in the reservation center and he told me on one of our ski trips that he was the luckiest man in the world when he found Sandy. We will forever remember the wonderful times we had on those ski trips and golf outings. We are very proud that Mark achieved his dream of being a commercial pilot. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sandy, Tyler, and Kaley.

Hi Sandy
My Blessings go out to you and your Family. Marvin and I worked together at Verizon Internet Solutions back in early 2000. With all of the things going on with the merger Marvin was always so positive. Marvin had aviation in his Blood. Between phone calls and on almost every break we talked about flying. Heck, there were times we talked about Flying while using the Bathroom.
Sandy, you and Marvin have touched my life forever. After Marvin took the buyout I would touch base with him and see what he was doing. He always told me he loved to fly and was going to climb the Aviation ladder. I love you guys because you and Marvin always asked how I was doing regarding my Battle with Brain Cancer. Sandy, every time I was at the Airport I would stop by and say Hello to you. You were always happy even though you had to deal with Delta Airlines. Every time you ran into me you would pas on my hello.T he last time I saw you were working the Luggage Office for Delta. You too have Aviation in your blood.
God Bless you and your Family.

I just wanted to add my thoughts and reflections on Mark, and have waited until 6p - the time of his memorial. I would rather be there to honor this special friend, but this is as close as I could get. Sandy, you know how much yours and Marks' friendship have meant to me over the years. From the time that I moved to FL, Mark was one of the 1st people I met as we both worked at Howard Johnson's Maingate. He was also working at MCORO and knew that I wanted to get a job there. He always kept me informed on when they would be hiring and I credit him with obtaining that job. We had many fun times in MCORO and I'm am glad to see many have commented here. The year that Sandy and I spent as roomies was time spent that established another lifelong friendship. Then, you 2 got together and those years of joint friendship at Piedmont have remained some of my best and most cherished memories. Then when we all wound up together again in Winston Salem, it was another happy time of friendship with you both. I've found several photos of that year and have enjoyed reliving those memories. I especially remember the day that Mark received his rating to fly passengers. He was so excited when you both called to share the news. Thanks to Sandy having to work the next day, I got to be Marks' first passenger! I will never forget flying all around NC in that little Piper Cub and truly enjoying how proud he was. Now, I consider that to be a special honor, and want to thank you for having to work that day! Mark was a dear, sweet, kind man and everyone who knew him has a richer life because of it. I wish there were words to comfort you, but know that sometimes there just aren't. Mark is with Jesus where you and the kids and many more of us will see him again one day. Until then, rest in the friendships and love of family that you two have built together. I love you both, and Tyler and Kaylee as well.

I knew Mark from the PI/US reservations office. I was shocked to hear the news. Mark was a great guy. I can remember talking to him about learning how to fly. It's wonderful that he didn't give up on his dream and he created the opportunity to experience what he loved. Sandy, I hope you can find some comfort in knowing that everyone that knew Mark has you and your children in their thoughts and prayers.
May God be with you.

Sandy and Family,
Marvin and I worked together at Verizon for several year until he took that big step to pursue his commerical pilots lic. I was very sad when Marvin left Verizon but I understood he was doing what he always wanted to do. I remember going to lunch with Marvin many times and he would always comment on beautiful clear days that it was, great flying weather. Yes, he loved flying but his first love was his family!!!!
My heart sank when I heard the news but after several hours of recalling our times together at VZ I had nothing but smiles on my face. Marvin had that get sense of humor and very calming way about him. In all my memories I see Marvin with that great smile on his face.
Marvin will be greatly missed here on Earth but Heaven has a beautiful new angel to serve God.

My family moved from Shen in 1978, yet I will always consider it my hometown. Part of growing up was bowling on Saturday mornings and Marvin was part of that group. Dear Renslow Family,
My deepest condolences to you. Marvin was my team leader when we worked together at American Express in Tampa in the late 1990's. Marvin wasn't just a boss, he was a friend who took a genuine interest in his team. I was so shocked this evening watching the World News and made the connection when they mentioned his name and showed his picture. I called a former colleauge to confirm it was Marvin. I am greatly saddened by this news. Marvin always shared his home life with us laughing and joking and it was evident that he was truly a happy man. The world is a lot lonelier tonight, and I know that Marvin tried to do everything in his power to solve this terrible mishap. My prayers and thoughts go out to you in this very sad time.

When it's hard to live on,
When it's hard to keep on,
When it's hard to go on,
You have to stay strong
In reality, Marvin is not gone.
You still hear his laughter in your heart.
You still see his smile in your mind.
You still feel his spirit in your soul.
And you will see him again in time that only God knows.
Sandy please know that you, Tyler and Kaley are in my thoughts, prayers and so close to my heart.
I hope to see you soon and I love you sweetie, Melinda

Dearest Sandy,
It is so hard to understand why God needed Mark more right now than you and your children, but just know that Mark will always, always be smiling down upon you and watching over you and your children. God will see you thru this terrible, terrible time even when you think you are not going to make it God will give you strength and courage. Mark was always such a great friend to me at work and outside of work. We had some wonderful times down at the Sunbank bldg at the Disney Village and then at the Res office at the airport. You know, those guys from Iowa…once a friend…they are a friend forever; sort of like those people from WV. He was a friend to everyone all the time and that made him special. May God bless you and your children richly and give you the courage you need to make it through these tuff times.

It's strange how we take things for granted, like our friends, we think they will always be there and if you miss the opportunity to talk to them or see them you think you can catch-up next time. Well...I missed my opportunity to see Marvin at the 25th class reunion in Shenandoah because something came up and I did not go, and now he has been on my mind every day since the news of the horrible accident. My prayers go out to Marvin's family and friends. I remember my first day back at elementary school, after moving away from Shenandoah for a short time, Marvin came up to me and said, "so you're back...let's go show everyone else" He was a friend who cared. His time was too short here on earth. I will miss...we will all miss our good friend.

Sandy and Family and Friends,
No words can express the sadness in my heart for you and your family.
I will never forget Marvin or his great big smile and his even greater kindness and sense of humor. During the Piedmont, then US Airways years, his humor made the days so much brighter and his kindness made the days so much better.
What I'll remember most about him, was his love for Sandy and his family and friends. I am so glad to have been one of his friends.

Dear Sandy,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Tyler and Kaley and always will be. Marvin was my dear, dear friend. He moved from Sheanandoah to Orlando to pursue his dream of flying and I followed not too longer after. We did some crazy things together. He was a special man. A very caring and loving man, as you well know. I especially remember the last time we were together last summer. He had called because he was laid over in Orlando. I went to the airport to get him and bring him to my house until you were able to pick him up that evening. I told him I was in the middle of digging up the old sod in my entire front lawn. He said "no problem - I'll help you". It took hours, he and I both were filthy and he never complained one bit. That's just the kind of friend he was. I wish I would wake up and this was all a bad dream. I know we're not supposed to question God's plan, but sometimes it's very hard; especially at a time like this. Well, we know where he is now and is looking down at us from a better place. Becky and I want you to know you can call us if there's anything we can do for you. We want you to know we're here.
Our sincere love and prayers to you and the kids,
Bryan

I worked with Marvin at Hy-vee in Shenandoah, Iowa. He was a real nice person. He once pulled my car out of a ditch with his pickup after it went off the road. Sandy,
Marvin was my second cousin. The last time I saw him was at Jennifers wedding in Columbia MO. I am so thankful for getting the chance to catch up on all the things going on with him and reminising about old times at the family reunions here in Savannah MO. My fondest memory was when he climbed the water tower. It seems he already had a passion for being in the sky. Each time I got a chance to see him over the years all he could talk about was you and the kids and flying. He truely loved all of you. I am so proud to be able to say he was part of my family. God will ease the pain.

Dear Sandy, Tyler and Kaley,
Oh how I wish I could take away your pain. Our sympathy and prayers are with you guys. I have known Marvin all my life. He was such a funny guy - as you know and always full of life!
He and I were in the same class in school but more than that we were family friends. The last time I remember being with you guys was in 2001 when my daughter played softball in the Jr. Collegiate playoffs and I and my brother Jeff spent the day with Marvin, Kaley and Tyler at the beach in Tampa. Sandy you weren't there because someone had to work. Right? But we did get to have Dinner with you and the family that evening and that was great!
I will always treasure all the memories of Marvin through the years. Remember he is never far away as long as you have his memories and he is always in your heart. I know he loved all of you very much, could tell by how his face would light up every time he would talk about you guys. Never will forget that smile he always had!
Love always

Marvin was in my brother Tony's class a year ahead of me in Shenandoah Iowa. My most immediate memory of him was his bicycle. He had taken the handlebars off and replaced them with a steering wheel!
He let me try to ride it a few times but I couldn't control it. Marvin was a true master of controling complicated things as well as a genuine great guy. He will be deeply missed.

Sandy, I am truly saddened by the news of Mark's passing. He was my first supervisor at Piedmont and even to this day I remember many of his tips while I work for another airline. We had just recently reconnected on the Plaxo website and I was so happy to communicate with Mark once again. He was truly a wonderful person and will be sorely missed.
God bless you and your family.

I remember Marvin as a little boy to his young adult years. He was a pleasure to know. Such a nice person and energetic. He was a good friend and classmate to my brother Doug who wants to send his heartfelt condolences and remembrances of Marvin to his family and friends as do I. He will be greatly missed.

Sandy, you may never see this or know of this message. I will see you soon and I love you. I'm so sorry. Mallorie mentioned this morning how he taught her how to drive a stick when we were there in FL. You are in my prayers my sister.

Mark was my first supervisor with Piedmont Airlines in the Orlando reservations office. He quickly became a friend as well. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him - what a tragedy. I'm still in shock! My prayers and love go out to all his family and the families of those aboard his aircraft.

Our prayers go out to Marvin Renslow and his family. Mark was how he was known to his coworkers at Piedmont/USAirways employess. He was patient and kind. He was one of those rare people who was liked by all. In the 15 years I worked the airline industry I never heard one bad word said about him. He made going to work a fun experience. He was truly a special person and as such will always be remembered. We will miss you, Mark, dear friend!

Sandy,
My heart goes out to you and the children. Marvin and I worked together at RJR from 1994 until 1996. We worked the Winston Winners and Camel VIPs promotional travel desk. We would travel on the weekends to the NASCAR & NHRA Drag Racing events. Marvin was the steady & stable "go to person" that Nikki and I relied on when an unusual situation was present. And we had many!!!! Marvin always kept his smile and composure. His family was the most important part of his life and you was the love of his life.
May God be with you and the children.
