Richard Bergeron Obituary

BERGERON, Richard C. Of Duxbury, formerly of Brockton, died Monday, February 7, 2011 at home surrounded by family. He was 88. Husband of the late Mildred A. "Milly" (Millay) Bergeron; he was born in Brockton to Simeon J. and Mary Z. (Eschemback) Bergeron. A graduate of Brockton High School and Boston University, Mr. Bergeron served his country in the Navy during World War II - Pacific Theater. He worked for Intercity Transportation Company for most of his life and the U.S. Post Office. Summering in Duxbury for 20 years before moving there permanently in 1971, he was instrumental in creating the neighborhood beach association. Mr. Bergeron, always with a smile, enjoyed music and dancing. He was a member of the American Legion for more than 40 years and attended many Navy reunions around the country. He is survived by daughters, Patricia A. Wittlif (Vernon) of Houston, TX, and Debra L. Jorgensen (Peter) of Ashland, NH, son Richard C. Bergeron, Jr. (Karen) of Ledyard, CT, and grandsons, Richard C. Bergeron III (Amanda) of Framingham and Daniel J. Bergeron of Ledyard, CT. He is also survived by sister, Virginia R. Burgoyne; brothers Robert F., Raymond W., and Donald A.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter, Cheryl A. Bergeron, and sister, Rita L. Bergeron. Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. (Rte. 123) Brockton Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, Rte 3A, Duxbury, Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Mayflower Cemetery, Duxbury. A very special thank you to Visiting Angels companion, Aurea, Overlook Visiting Nurse Association and Cranberry Hospice for their tremendous support and guidance. So, So sorry to learn your Dad (Mr. Bergeron to me!!) has passed. WOW...where would I ever begin??? Mr. Bergeron, Milly, Cheryl....so many memories!!
