I will miss Vince deeply. He and my late husband, Jim, shared many great times together at the OSU School of Music in the early 90's. I always looked forward to seeing Vince at OMEA. I will be forever grateful that my trio, COSMOS played in Defiance for Vince and friends. He supported me so beautifully through my fight with cancer. May he rest in peace, and find Jim!!

Vince Polce taught me many things and not just about music, but about life. He was a great influence in my life and he will be missed. How many people do you know that have "Lincolnshire Posy" on their iPod? I do because of Vince.

Vince had everything to do with my becoming a professional musician although becoming a player was never as important to Vince as being a good person. When I had a chance to go back and play with the band as a guest soloist the two things that impressed me the most listening to a rehearsal were how good the band sounded and how Vince talked to the band. Every word was meant to encourage, even if the lesson was tough to hear. The band was his child and he was the best father!

Mr. Polce's life and work ethic influenced the lives of so many - myself and my two sisters included. We were all a part of the band when we went to Pasadena my senior year and got stuck in different places over the country on the way home. The trip was amazing and the lesson learned was great - "If you work hard, your rewards are limitless." If we hadn't spent so much time preparing, we wouldn't have earned a reputation for being one of the best. Thank you Vince. You've earned your rewards.

Vince was a friend and mentor. He did so much for so many. I will carry close to my heart the time I spent with him.

From the time that I met Vince he had a big spot in my heart. He fought a great fight and I am sure that he was met by welcoming hands in heaven. Donna, you will meet him again, and know that you can always talk to him for he is with you always. "FOR EVERY TEAR THAT YOU CRY A FLOWER BLOOMS IN HEAVEN"

I will always remember the one year that Vince Polce spent at Grand Rapids (Ohio) High School as our band director. It was the best our band ever played. Our loss was Defiance's gain. Some 35 years later when I saw him, he still remembered me and the band from that year. He always cared about his kids and the integrity of the band and its members.
