OAKES, Clifford George 1928-2016. Succumbed after a short battle from a "buggered body", 4pm Monday 26th October, in Tauranga. Amazing Dad to Juliet, Don, Gary and Michelle, Jeffery, Loretta and Phil. Granddad to Lauren, Julian, Scott, Lachlan, Kristan, Kaysha, Nicole, Cody and Ella. Brother to Len, Jack, Sid, Betty, Graeme and Jim. Lifelong friend to Dayal. Relation/ friend/mentor/ confidante to countless others (you know who you are) Happily reunited with his beautiful wife Dora who passed in 2009 Cliff only 4 weeks ago was driving, cooking, using text and computer and exercising, rating the All Blacks performance and determined to make the most of each day. His goal to attend Gary and Michelle's wedding on 10th Sept was achieved (just) and made us all very proud to be part of his abundant life. Donations please in lieu of flowers to the fantastic Waipuna Hospice Te Puna, whose staff were simply the best. Cliff was a no fuss man so as per his wishes was cremated on Tuesday, 27 September. Please light a candle and remember him in the way you best remember him….alive and dangerous! The family intends hosting Clifford George's last party on his birthday, 18th Feb 2017 in Tauranga, so in Dads words….watch this space!
