Jan GROOTE VELDMAN Obituary
GROOTE VELDMAN, Jan Albert. Netherlands Army number 260928012. Jan passed away peacefully at Waipuna Hospice on Wednesday 28 April 2017, after a long illness, with his loving wife Marjorie at his side. Loving father of Marijke, Catherine and Karen and their partners Jim, Ross and Brian. Cherished grandpa of Leon, the late Emile; Jessica, Ben and Brooke. Huge thanks to all the doctors and nursing staff at Tauranga Hospital and Waipuna Hospice. A celebration of Jan's life will be held at St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Dee Street Mt. Maunganui on Wednesday 3 May 2017 at 1:30pm, followed by a private cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations preferred posted to Waipuna Hospice, P.O. Box 1156 Tauranga, would be much appreciated. In loving memory of our good friend, Jan. We met Jan for the first time when we shifted to Ocean Shores and immediately it was obvious that he was a special person, gentle, kind and caring. He had a great sense of humour too. We became friends with Jan and his lovely wife Marjorie, and now we have to say our goodbyes to him with heavy hearts. Our thoughts are with Marjorie and with the rest of the family. Jan is now without pain and worries. Rest in piece, Jan, we'll never forget you and we'll be there for Marjorie should she need us.
