Ross MOORE Obituary

Of Paraparaumu, formerly of Pukerua Bay and Strathmore Park. Peacefully at Sevenoaks Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Friday 11 August 2023. Aged 88 years. Dearly loved husband of Gretchen. Adored father of Vicki, Robyn, and Kelvin. Much loved father-in-law, grandad, great-grandad, brother, uncle and great-uncle to all his family. With grateful thanks to all the staff at Sevenoaks for their love and care. At Ross' request, a private family service took place on Monday 14 August at 2.00pm.

I have known Ross for perhaps 25 years, not only as a Chief Executive of the Royal Society of New Zealand and council member of the Royal Society of New Zealand Wellington Branch, but also as a friend. He and I used to catch up regularly for a coffee and talk about science in New Zealand. I will miss Ross very much. David Lillis

Moving from Whanganui to Wellington to work in the Educational field with The Royal Society was a daunting step for me. Ross understood and supported me as a colleague and friend through the two and a half years I spent at RSNZ. The experience set me up well for my career outside teaching and I'll forever be grateful for the time I spent working with Ross and his team. My deepest condolences to the family.
