I have known the Beard family ever since they arrived in Tolaga Bay in the mid 80´s.
Paul and Christine made a huge contribution to the local community and Paul´s passing will only exacerbate the feeing of loss we have all felt since they moved to Gisborne.
I remember the many times Paul would rescue me from the embarrassment of machinery breakdown during the grape growing season. He would drop everything just to come out and fix something irrespective of whether l called during the weekend or at a time that he should have spent having a break from other people´s problems.
He and Christine have always been true friends - people of the highest integrity, the likes of which are rare in modern society.
We extend our deepest sympathy and love to the
family.
