PAEWAI, Hohepa (Hepa) Justyn. 03.01.1948 - 22.02.2018 Beloved husband of the late Kathy Paewai. Beloved companion of Kitty Johnson. Beloved dad of Nathan, Murdoch, Keri, Caryn, Blanche and partners. Beloved koro of Kalin, Jesse, Tori, Conar, Paige, Reed, Arna, Carter, Angus, Rieko, Emma and Blanchey. Beloved brother, uncle and friend. A service for Hepa is to be held at the Havelock North Rugby Club, Anderson Park on Saturday, February 24 at 10:00am. Hepa will be buried at the Pareneha Hoori Urupa in Dannevirke, alongside his wife. There will be a hakari at Aotea Clubrooms thereafter. I met Hepa only once or twice, he helped me with preparing my horse trip in the south Island. I keep a great memory of him and was moved to learn his death.

So sorry to hear the sad news just this morning. What a great thrill it was to be in the team when Hepa came out of retirement to play against the 1977 Lions for his beloved Hawkes Bay. Hepa was a special rugby player, a terrific guy and greatly respected by those who knew him.
