As one of the veteran welfare officers for New Zealand Bomber Command association l was lucky enough to speak with Lew on many occasions over the phone but unfortunately never had the pleasure to meet this amazing man and his dear wife Doreen in person. What a interesting life he had and what wonderful husband and father he was. My thoughts are with his family right now, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren who have lost their very special Poppa.

My Condolences to Doreen (Nana Day) and to all the generations of the Day Family on the passing of Lew (Poppa Day) a much loved husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather. I feel very privileged to have met & known such a wonderful man. Thinking of you all at this sad time.

My thoughts are with you over this sad period. Lew was my Commercial Pilot Flight Instructor at Ardmore. Best Instructor I ever had. He taught me so much in a short period. I will be forever grateful.
