It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Fredrick Thomas Flannigan, a beloved husband, father, and friend. Fred peacefully departed this world on February 20, 2022, at the age of 71 in his home in Auckland. He was surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 15, 1950, in Auckland, Fred was the son of the late James and Margaret Flannigan. He grew up in this vibrant city and dedicated his life to making a positive change in the lives of others. Fred was known for his kind heart, compassionate nature, and unwavering commitment to his family and community. Fred was a devoted husband to his wife of 48 years, Mary, and a loving father to his two children, Emily and David. He was a pillar of strength for his family, always offering guidance, support, and unconditional love. Fred's warm smile and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. In addition to his family, Fred was a longstanding member of the Auckland community. He dedicated countless hours of his time volunteering at the local shelter and advocating for those less fortunate. His selflessness and commitment to helping others left an indelible mark on the lives he touched. A funeral service to celebrate Fred's life will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Church, located at 123 Main Street, Auckland. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Auckland Shelter Fund in memory of Fred. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Auckland Convention Center. Fredrick Thomas Flannigan will forever be remembered as a loving husband, dedicated father, and a true community champion. His legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to inspire all those who knew him. Fred's departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family and friends, but his spirit will live on forever.
