My heart breaks for Anna, Billy, Aubree, and the Collins family.
I am so sorry for your loss. Mike was unique, funny, talented, and passionate.
I have great memories of hanging out with Mike, Carole, Neville, and family at their place or at Dargaville Little Theatre. Acting in a couple of shows with Mike, and cracking up at his goofy sense of humour.
He gave me a book of poems he wrote. I still have that.
I have photos from a horse trek we all went on and Mike is wearing a straw cowboy style hat with his dark sunnies.
I remember we went on the night "Kiwi walk" in Trounsen Forest once and us two couldn't stop cracking up at the guide's narrative as we walked and what we believed were pre-recorded Kiwi calls coming from speakers hidden along the trail!
I'm sorry that I missed his final curtain call. I only learned of his passing late last night.
Catch you on the flip side Mike.

Well I'd be one person that got to spend time with Mike on a number of occasions both in community and some weekend visits to where I use to live when things seemed to get to far out of reach he was the type of person that would sit down with u and build step by step way of how to manage any situation. One very valuable man of knowledge and all there. Both it work and positive impact in community I shall be there to say see u soon but not to soon love ya mate

There aren´t many people in this world who had such a genuinely kind nature and lead with kindness. Your humble confidence was always admired. Your love for Anna was enviable, you made it clear to the world she is the love of your life. All the Aroha to Anna and your Whanau. We will miss you at the vape corner Mike. See you on friday. X

I think I only met Michael once after I finished university.
Something I will always regret now.
We went through high school together (does anyone else remember the year our form class had 5 Michaels in it?), and he was one of the genuinely nice people.
Not just average or so-so like most of us, but actually nice.
The world will be poorer for his absence.

My deepest sympathy to Anna and family. I worked as a family court taker and case manager in the family registry in Whangarei, and fondly remember our little daily catch up chats mainly about work related matters. A true gentleman, whom I will miss dearly.

We will miss your happy face Mike, you were always so chirpy, so helpful, nothing was ever too big a problem for you to help with and I loved your sense of humour and easy going nature Kaikohe DC will miss you and there will be a big hole where you once were at our little Courthouse. I am so sorry for your loss, life can be so cruel. But I can imagine that Mike will always be with you, looking our for you and be by your side. Much aroha to your family at this terribly sad time. May you find some strength in your memories with him.
