Very sad to hear today of Rob Caulder's death two weeks ago. Didn't know him well, but he struck me as one of those rare courageous souls who made the world a little brighter whenever and where ever he was. RIP

Rob was a wonderful friend to me. Back in the early 80´s I met him. At the time I was studying to be a physio. He was so generous with his support and mentorship and was really the only role model I had for being a successful health practitioner who happened to be gay.

I remember well when he attended my graduation along with my mother and sister; a modest celebration by todays´ standard. However that he took the time to be there meant the world to me.

I met our dear friend Rob at a Warrick Broadbent extravaganza in 1976 and with my wife Jude we have been close friends since 1989 sharing many happy breakfasts at Bambina at Bambina Cafe in Ponsonby. We will miss our sweet loving friend.

I had known Rob for over 20 to 25 years, having belonged to 2 gay organizations I ran. It was sad to hear of his passing. He was always a popular and social member of the 11s and the Sunboys Club. I enjoyed his friendship as many did Hugs Ray King

Rob was an inspiration- his work in youth lifeline and the AIDS Foundation coupled by his love of singing in the gay choir reflects the immense compassion his soft heart expressed by bringing joy and hope to do many . Over many years we shared breakfast on Fridays along with my husband Peter and the laughter we shared and support we provided to each other will always be a memory that brings joy to my heart.
Our deepest love to Ricardo Robs husband who was the love of Robs life.

Rob and I were students together in the same year at Dental School and the friendship we formed lasted many years. His effervescent and ebullient nature livened many meetings and gave a lift to others when moods were down and I am sure that this contributed to the success of his students, both when training and qualified and then practicing in a stressful field. He will be missed personally and professionally by many people. John Titchener

Sorry to hear of Rob's death. I've known him since the 1950s when we were both dental students in Dunedin and we caught up from time to time when he was visiting the south or I was visiting Auckland. Nice guy, Rest in Peace, Rob.
